i walked up to the witches place
without knowing how i found my way up there
deciding by how i felt at forks in paths
what looked like the better way to go from there
kept changing from road to path to cliff to stream
to strange forest beckoning forward
perfectly designed soft mush
of pine needle avenues that snaked around
small boulders along small stream
sparkling with clearest water
compelled from spot to spot by quiet magnets
sit here, look here, walk here, climb here,
stumble here - small tests in place
thresholds erase ties to past
for one moment at peak cold rock
a question was pulled out of pre-memory
a clansman has done something most horribly
as service and still remains as close as skin
and offers the gift of pain
congregating in 3-D
with nothing between the different breeds of trees
huddled with their own
look how it all quivers
the mist hides the rivers origin from view
where rock is still bare
go climb and sit up there
